Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program Now Open, Says Cabell
1/25/2024
SUGARLOAF – The application period for the state’s 2023 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program is now open for eligible Pennsylvania residents to begin claiming rebates on property taxes or rent paid last year, according to Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne).

“Under a new law I supported, income limits increased this year to $45,000 annually for both homeowners and renters, so if you were earning too much to qualify before, you may be eligible now. Remember to exclude 50% of Social Security when determining your income,” said Cabell. “The maximum rebate also increased to $1,000, which is great news for anyone struggling to pay their bills.”

The rebate program is open to residents age 65 years and older; widows and widowers 50 years and older; and people with disabilities 18 years and older.

Cabell reminds eligible residents that they need not pay anyone for assistance to apply for the rebates. They can apply online at mypath.pa.gov or contact his district office in Sugarloaf (570-359-2138) or Dallas (570-675-6000) to schedule an appointment.

Applicants should be prepared to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately. The application deadline is June 30.

Additional information about the rebate program is available at revenue.pa.gov
