SUGARLOAF – Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne), along with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, will offer a basic boating safety course on regulations and requirements this Saturday, May 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nescopeck State Park, 1137 Honey Hole Road, near Drums. The class will be held at the park’s Raphael J. Musto Visitors and Environmental Education Center.

“This is a great opportunity to attain the necessary safety training required to enjoy the many recreational opportunities available on our region’s waterways now that the warmer weather is here,” said Cabell.

The course is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required by emailing alupacchin@pa.gov. Please include your name and phone number.

Students who successfully complete this course may apply for a Boating Safety Education Certificate. Such certificates are required for all operators of personal watercraft, regardless of age, and for boat operators born after Jan. 1, 1982, who operate motorboats of more than 25 horsepower.
